YOUTH TAKING CHARGE
ABOUT THE "YOUTH TAKING CHARGE" BOARD
The "Youth Taking Charge" Board, commonly known as the Youth Board, is a group of young people whose mission is to promote leadership, empowerment and change in the areas of health, social justice and community wellness for the young people of northern Manhattan. Many young people do not know where to go for confidential, youth-friendly healthcare, so they don't have an opportunity to ask health questions or have them answered. Each youth board member is a health advocate among his or her peers, distributing information about the importance of health care, HIV-related issues, and adolescent-friendly resources.

Supplementing their external community work, the Youth Board also provides insight into adolescent issues and serves as the Advisory Board for AIP and the larger Partnership for Family Health. All outreach materials, activities, events, and other collaborations are developed with extensive youth input and must meet with final approval from the Board.
